Not only are changes being made to the Fulton County Hospital's physical appearance; the internal structure is getting a facelift as well.
July 11 the Fulton County Hospital Board met in executive session and voted to relieve long-time hospital administrator Frank Wise of his duties, according to hospital board member Barry Aldridge.
"We are looking to do an internal restructuring ... We have a new hospital that we are coming into, and there are some changes that must be made," Aldridge said. "And like with anything, there are growing pains involved, and that's what this (decision to release Wise) was."
Aldridge said that the board is in the process of interviewing potential candidates for the position.
The board chose to hire the hospital's current department head of nurses, Donna Hodges, as the interim administrator, he said.
Wise, who began his administrative work with the Fulton County facility in August 1993, refused to speak regarding the hospital board's decision. "I didn't have the courtesy of being invited (to the July 11 board meeting), so I have no comment," he said.
