MYRTLE -- Acceptance of bids highlighted the July 9 Couch School Board meeting. The board accepted Highland Dairy's bid to supply dairy products, Sara Lee Bakery's bid to supply bakery products MFA's bid to supply propane and Stateline Propane and Petroleum's bid to provide bus fuel for the upcoming school year. The board also voted to purchase a new school bus through a five year lease purchase with the Alton Bank.
The tax rate hearing at the school was set for Aug. 9 and 10.
Student registration at the school will take place July 31-Aug. 2. Seniors will register from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. on July 31 and juniors will register from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Sophomores will register from 8:15 to 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 1 and freshmen will register from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
New students at the school will register from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 2. Students in grades seven and eight will receive their schedule on the first day of school.
Superintendent Tom Bull discussed several issues with the school board including the need to purchase a new lawn mower at the school. He also addressed bus routes for the upcoming school year.
The board voted to hold a public meeting July 27 at 7 p.m. in the old gym to discuss the tax levy issue that will be on August election ballot in the Couch School District.
The board voted to accept the resignation of Kathy Hopper. They voted to offer employment to Anna Melton, Tammy Ennis, Kim Bray and Donna Martin.
