MAMMOTH SPRING -- This year's Loyalty Day Parade will be held April 26 starting at 1 p.m.

The parade is sponsored every year by the Mammoth Spring VFW Post 7831 and Ladies Auxiliary. Wayne Haney is the post commander and Dorothy Parks is the auxiliary president.

Parks said the theme for this year's parade is "Honoring All Veterans." She said there will be cash prizes awarded and any parade entry wanting to be judged must have an entry number.

"Parade line-up will be between noon and 1 p.m. at the fire station and will go eight blocks down Main Street. The Loyalty Day Program will be held at the city park starting at 2 p.m." Parks said.

Parks said the parade will be led by the Marching Color Guard from the Little Rock Air Force Base. Flag units will follow with patriotic units coming next.

"Loyalty Day contestants from the school, floats, bikes, ATVs, youth and adult walkers, antique cars, horses and wagons will follow," she said. Bands will be placed throughout the parade.

Parks said the program at the park will have a patriotic opening, followed by introductions, speeches, laying of the wreaths, music, award presentations and crowning of the junior and senior Loyalty Day contestants.

Float prizes will be $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. The float winners will be selected on flags, theme, decorations and impressions. The bikes and ATV's prize will be $15 based on decorations of vehicles and riders.

Youth and adult walkers' prizes will also be $15 based on costuming.

Parks said all entries should use a flag.

The antique car prize will be $15. The winner will be based on the judge's opinion.

"One prize of $25 will be awarded for best horse and rider. All judging will be based on the use of the flag, theme, costumes and decorations. The grand marshal for this year's parade will be Steve Russell," she said.

For further information about the parade call Haney at 870-625-3984 or Parks at 870-625-7667.
