Writer responds to advertisement, says the Bible has the answers
I feel compelled to write a rebuttal to the advertisement "Mother God" that has been printed in Areawide Media publications in recent weeks.
The Hebrew word, Elohim, is the word for God in Gen. 1:1 and 2,700 other places in the Old Testament. Elohim is plural form meaning God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost and is always masculine gender. The only feminine deities in scripture are pagan deities.
In Gen. 1:26-28, in essence, God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish, the fowl, the cattle, over all the earth" ... Furthermore, after Adam and Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, part of the curse placed on the woman was ... "in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
In the New Testament, Paul reinforced this statement in I Tim. 2:11-14. "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression."
In John 8:44, Jesus said the devil is a liar and the father of it. In the Garden of Eden, Satan misquoted scripture in order to deceive Eve. He still misquotes scripture and takes verses out of context in order to deceive.
For example, the writer of the advertisement implies that the verses in Proverbs 4: 6, 8 and 9 refer to the attributes of a female deity. Actually, these verses refer to the virtuous traits of wisdom as plainly shown in Proverbs 4:5 and 4:7 which the writer conveniently omits. Proverbs 4:5 says, "Get wisdom, get understanding: Forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth." Proverbs 4:7 says, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding."
Paul tells us in 2 Tim. 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth," and Peter in 2 Pet. 3:16 comments, "they that are unlearned and unstable wrest (twist) scriptures to their own destruction."
An omnipotent (all-powerful) God can bring forth a son however He chooses. Gal. 4:4,5 says, "But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." (See also Isaiah 7:14.)
Jesus loved His mother, because when He was crucified He commanded His disciple John to take care of her, but Jesus did not deify Mary. Matt. 12:46, Mark 3:31 and Luke 8:19, all relate an instance when Jesus was teaching the people and His mother and His brothers came to see Him and could not get close to Him because of the crowd and Jesus made the statement that "those who hear the Word of God and do it, the same are my mother and brothers."
Many scriptures refer to the masculinity of the Godhead. Some important ones are John, chapter 1, John 3:16, John chapter 17, the epistle of first John, and the Lord's prayer as related in Matt. 6:9-15 and Luke 11:1-4.
Remember, all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: "That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Tim. 3:16-17.

Writer asks for your help in supporting veterans' rights
I am personally asking every American over 21 to write, call, fax or e-mail their Congress person today to support: HR 5737 still in committee. We need this as a bill and law this year. With you, this can be possible.
Today, troops come home with injuries and become our veterans, veterans who in so many areas of this country have to travel for medical treatment.
Just Feb. 8, the mileage was raised to 28.5 cents a mile; in January of this year it was only 11 cents a mile.
Yet, more help is needed in a tax break. Think, if your spouse, son or daughter, needed surgery hours from your home, and you did not have funds to travel with the veteran. The VA will fly the veteran to a hospital for treatment yet not one family member and at times, not even all travel costs with the trip. No hotels/motels, even if you travel 6-10 hours for an 8 a.m. (yes, 8 a.m. check in), ill in most cases. The veteran needs to travel the day before and cover all lodging and meals and toll cost.
Tax credit, not cash. Support Congressman Dean Heller (R-NV). Ask your Congress person to co-sponsor and vote today to help our veterans.
Congressman Heller, without a co-sponsor introduced H.R. 5737: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for a deduction for travel, on April 9, to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for a deduction for travel expenses to medical centers of the Department of Veterans Affairs in connection with examinations or treatments relating to service-connected disabilities.
