THAYER -- Six people were injured, one child and one man seriously, in a two-vehicle accident north of Thayer June 27.
The accident occurred three miles north of Thayer on Highway 19 at 6:22 p.m.
A 2001 Mercury driven by Andrew Mullins, 65, from Hardy, Ark., crossed the center line of the highway and struck a 2004 Ford minivan driven by Wendy Bodenhamer, 42, of Thayer nearly head on, according to Trooper J.C. Howell with Troop G of the Missouri Highway Patrol,
Mullins received serious injuries in the accident and was airlifted from the Thayer Airport to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
A passenger in the Mullins vehicle, her daughter, Charlotte Bodenhamer, 9, was airlifted from Thayer High School to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Two other Bodenhamer children, Ashley Bodenhamer, 15, and Houston Bodenhamer, 7, as well as Aaron Cook, 16, of Thayer and Wendy Bodenhamer, received moderate injuries and were transported by Oregon County Ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center.
Howell reported that the driver and all the passengers in the Bodenhamer vehicle were wearing seat belts. Mullins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, Howell said.
