This is what remained of the 2003 Chevrolet Astro Van driven by Lillie Malady, 68, of Pevely, Mo., after losing control of the vehicle Monday afternoon. According to Arkansas State Trooper Ronnie Stewart, Malady was traveling east on Highway 62, approximately four miles east of Salem when she failed to negotiate a curve. Stewart said Malady's vehicle ran off the south side of the highway, traveling along the shoulder and through a ditch 222 feet before she struck an embankment and went airborne. She then traveled 18 more feet in the air before coming to rest in a ditch along the east side of the highway. Malady was transported by Air Evac to St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. As of press time her condition was unknown.
