Parking restrictions passed

Thursday, August 24, 2006

THAYER -- The Thayer City Council at their Aug. 8 meeting, voted to add ordinance 996 to city records. The ordinance restricts the parking of large tractor-trailers near intersections in town because in the past the trucks have blocked traffic.

The council voted to restrict parking in the parking lot south of the Thayer Police Station to Dillard Insurance to customers in the businesses in the area.

Marty Komm II and Lou Stewart were on the agenda and addressed the council about the need to paint a stripe down the center of Nettelton Street. They said at night the street becomes dark and hard to navigate when driving. The council discussed the request but made no decision.

Thayer City Collector Janice Tolar presented the council the annual collector's statement.
