AREA -- Two fall festivals will highlight weekend activities this Saturday.
The ninth annual Myrtle Yester-Daze will be held in downtown Myrtle starting at 7 a.m. with a flag raising ceremony at the community building.The Myrtle Volunteer Fire Department will serve breakfast, for a donation, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Chain saw and wood events, washer pitching, horseshoe pitching, crosscut sawing, a quilt show, photo contest and parade will fill the morning.
The fire department will serve lunch at noon.
Afternoon events will include a reenactment by the South Fork River Regulators, a babyback rib eating contest for kids and adults, frog races, an old fashioned women's chore race, and pedal tractor contests for kids and adults.
New to this year's festival will be the bucket brigade at 12:15 p.m. and Catch a Pig at 3 p.m.
Added festival activities include barrel train rides for the kids and demonstrations on a spinning wheel.
The Yester-Daze Parade will start at 10 a.m. with the parade lineup starting at 9 a.m.

The Thayer Area Chamber of Commerce will host this year's Fall Festival in downtown Thayer starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.
There will be food booths, games, a car bash and live music featuring Norman Hollis and the Breeze Band.
The Crescite Club will sponsor the crowning of Mr. and Miss Fall Festival at 8 p.m.
The Mammoth Springers Square Dance Club will perform during the festival.
This year the school class that registers the most attendance will win a cash prize provided by the chamber.
