Willie Sol Griggs of Salem, son of Flora Ellen (Twilla) Griggs and the late Vernon Odell Griggs, was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Blytheville.
He died Sept. 16, 2006, in Salem, at the age of 55 years.
Griggs was a loving father and grandfather. He spent his working years as a truck driver. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include a son, Billy Griggs of Salem; a daughter, Shelley Dalrymple of Yellville, Ark.; his mother, Ellen Griggs of Salem; four brothers, Vernon Griggs of Ocean Park, Wash., Ronnie Griggs of Salem, Jimmy Griggs of Salem, and Harrell Joe Griggs of Salem; four sisters, Linda Livingston of Marion, Ark., Dorothy Lancaster of Marion, Kitty Eaddy of Melbourne, and Becky Fowler of Salem; five grandsons; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The funeral services were held on Sept. 19 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Mark McKinney officiating.
Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Quentin Griggs, John Cawvey, Joey Griggs, Chris Sanders, Chris Temples and Gary Herron.
Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Dawson, Seth Pate and Michael Kulczycki.
