Billy Preston Hensley, 82, died March 18, 2006, in a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

Services were held March 25 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Mo. Military Commitment Service took place immediately after the funeral at East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, Mo.

Hensley was born April 23, 1923, in Bexar, Ark., to John and Anne Hensley. His mother died when he was only 6 years old, but God blessed him with a wonderful new mother, Stella Baker Wray.

Hensley was a World War II veteran. He was in the 5th Air Force, stationed in Italy. He received five Bronze Stars for his service.

Upon his return home, he wed Nina Faye Jones of Union, Ark., on Aug. 12, 1947, and moved to Kansas City that same year. Billy and Nina Faye had two daughters, Deanna Faye and Billie Karen, and one son, Roger Preston.

Hensley retired after 32 years with General Motors BOP in Fairfax, Kan., in 1983. He was a member of Local Union 31.

The Hensleys were charter members of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Parkville, Mo., where Billy served as a Deacon.

Hensley loved raising horses and fishing. Nothing brought him more joy and happiness than spending time with his great-grandchildren, Victoria, Marisa, Taira, Jayme and Adam. Billy and Nina Faye moved to Fort Worth in 2001 to be near their daughter, Deanna, their granddaughter, Kimberly Easton, and their great-grandchildren.

Hensley was preceded in death by his daughter, Billie Karen; son-in-law, Donald Dominey; two sisters, Evalee Payne and Virginia Merrell; four brothers, D.C. Hensley, Carl Hensley, Fred Hensley and Brad Wray; both of his mothers, Anne and Stella; and his father John.

Hensley is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nina Faye; one daughter, Deanna Dominey; one son, Roger Hensley; one granddaughter, Kim Easton, her husband, Kevin, and three great-granddaughters Victoria, Marisa and Taira, all of Fort Worth; great-granddaughter, Jayme Cain of Bonner Springs; grandson, Adam, of Kansas City; his sister, Janet Sandusky, and her husband, Jerry, of Dexter, Mo.; two brothers, Beverley Wray and wife, Cynthia, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Erman Wray and wife, Ruby, of Calico Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law, Novelene Wray, of Salem, Ark.; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
