Weber retires from military after 20 years of service

A retirement ceremony for MSgt. Rebecca G. Weber was held at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo., on June 1. MSgt. Weber has served 20 years in the United States Air Force.

She enlisted in August 1987. Her first assignment was to RAF?Greenham Common, United Kingdom as a radio operator. In 1990, she moved to Andrews AFB, Maryland, and worked as a presidential radio operator for special air mission aircraft. Next, she received an assignment to Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan as a satellite communications operator. In 1995, she moved to a special operations unit where she had the opportunity to deploy to places like Thailand, Korea, Indonesia and Australia. She cross-trained in 1998 into Manpower and organization and moved to Malmstrom AFB, Montana. In 2002 the Air Force took her to Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland. Finally she moved to F.E. Warren Air Force Base as the NCOIC, Manpower and organization flight. She managed 3,634 20th Air Force and 90th Space Wing manpower authorizations advised leadership on organizational manpower issues, provided guidance and initiated multiple manpower actions facilitating the Mighty Ninety's mission success

Weber has received multiple awards and decorations including four Air Force Commendation Medals, Air Force Achievement Medal, 10 Air Force Outstanding ?Unit Award with Valor, five AF Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, AF?Overseas Ribbon Short, three Air Force Longevity Service Awards, a?Training Ribbon, USAF?NCO?PME Graduate Ribbon and the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border. She also was named the 2006 Federal Woman of the Year.

Weber is the daughter of Larry and JoAnn Barker of Salem and the granddaughter of Nola Barker of Salem and the late Luther Barker, late Rudine Walker and the late Van Walker.
