Wednesday, June 20, 2007

MYRTLE -- Programs at Couch School were evaluated by the school board at their June 11 school board meeting.

Programs evaluated include the library media program, the health services program, and the Reading First program.

A+ coordinator Lacey Sorrell updated the board on the A+ program and the board approved the A+ evaluation results, A+ historical data, A+ statement of assurance and A+ citizenship requirements.

Board members voted to set wood prices for the 2007-08 school year at $40 for a 4-foot by 8-foot stack of wood and instructed the administration to advertise for suppliers.

The board received copies of the Missouri School Board Association policy updates and were asked by the superintendent to look them over and be prepared to approve the updates at the July meeting of the board.

They voted to adopt a budget resolution and to rollover the final 2006-07 budget and start the 2007-08 school year under that budget.

The board voted to seek bids for bakery goods, dairy products, L.P. fuel and bus fuel for the upcoming school year. They also voted to approve payment of additional summer school bills before the end of the fiscal year on June 30.

Superintendent Tom Bull informed the board that both gym floors have been refinished. He also told them that the lockers at the school are scheduled to be refurbished in July.

Bull told the board that a meeting has been set with Gatewood and Lone Star administrators to discuss tuition rates for the 2007-08 school year.

During executive session the board voted to accept Rhonda Hill's letter of retirement. The board voted to give the administration the authority to fill the Title I Reading position at the school.
