The Izard County Consolidated Cougars kept their 2AA-North record perfect at 5-0 with a 13-3 lashing of the Norfork Panthers March 23 at the Cougar Sports Complex in Brockwell.
ICC (5-3) trailed by two runs early on the afternoon, but four runs in the bottom of the third gave the Cougars the lead for good.
Dustin Noblin had a big afternoon at the dish for ICC by driving in five runs on two hits. Adam Montgomery picked up a pair of ribbies on two hits, while Kyle McCandlis had two hits and one run-batted-in.
Steven Walker, Curtis Clark, Scott Small and Jeremy Burns had a hit apiece for the Cougars.
McCandlis earned the win for ICC, allowing six hits while fanning four and giving up three walks in six innings of work.
A day earlier, the Cougars had slipped past the Panthers 7-4 in 11 innings at Norfork.
The Cougars broke open a 4-all game by crossing the plate three times in the top of the 11th to edge past the Panthers March 22.
Clark picked up the win in relief, as he struck out the side in the bottom of the 11th to keep ICC on top.
Montgomery started the game for ICC, working eight innings, allowing six hits while striking out 12 Norfork batters.
