Pfc. Alex Kiefer recently completed training as a small arms repair technician at the U.S. Marine Ordinance Center in Aberdeen, Md.
Kiefer was the only honor graduate in his class, having the highest average, highest PFT score, and highest wall locker inspect score. His final average was 94 percent, which was 1 percent below what he needed for a meritorious promotion to lance corporate.
Kiefer entered the Marine Corps in March and completed three months of intense boot camp training and three weeks of combat training at Camp Pendleton, Calif. While at Aberdeen, he enjoyed touring both Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
Kiefer, a 2005 graduate of Viola High School, is now stationed at Camp Lejune, N.C., where he works as a certified armorer.
