Francis Lee Knapp of Camp, Ark., son of the late William Floyd and Willa Mae (Stevens) Knapp, was born July 16, 1929, at Little Rock, Ark. He died Oct. 12, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home at the age of 77.

Knapp was united in marriage to Betty Shore on Dec. 23, 1956, at Burden, Kan., and to this union six children were born. He later married Gail Smith on Aug. 10, 1994, at Salem, Ark., and to this union two sons were born. He married Loretta Shire on April 7, 2004, at Memphis, Tenn.

He worked as a painter and was a member of the Morman Church.

He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Knapp of Salem; three sons, Steven Knapp, Francis Knapp Jr., and John Knapp, all of Salem; five daughters, Charliene Sexton and Carliene Gardner of Mohave Valley, Ariz., Christine Miller of Algonquin, Ill., Caroliene Guajardo of Salem, and Cheryliene Neimo of Crystal Lake, Ill.; one brother, Jim Adams of Little Rock; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Knapp, parents and two brothers, William and Dave Adams.

The funeral services were held Oct. 17 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem. Interment followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Steven Knapp, Jesse Hoye, Stephen Sims, Daniel Ochoa, Mel Inman and Brenton Castor.
