It might just be the ultimate revenge, and it's sure to be a lot of fun as the Salem Senior 2008 Lock-in Committee sponsors the ugly tree shuffle. This "stylish" symbol of the holiday season can grace the lawn of your "favorite" friend or neighbor, simply by making a phone call and donating $5 or more to the Lock-in Committee.
All participants who make a donation to have the tree shuffled to their favorite location will have their names put into a drawing for a $100 Visa shopping card. The winner will be announced at the first home senior basketball game in January.
The tree, which made its debut at the Salem Christmas Parade Monday evening, is now ready to begin the Grinch Tree Shuffle. Call 870-895-2407 or 870-710-4896 to make a donation and place a tree.
All donations go to the Salem High School's 2008 Senior Class Lock-in held after graduation ceremonies. The lock-in began as an effort to provide a safe atmosphere to celebrate this milestone in a student's life. Since its inception, it has grown in the number of students attending as well as the number of donations offered by area businesses. The Lock-in Committee works throughout the year to raise funds for the Lock-in. They recently held a chili supper at the firestation in Salem.
Everyone is encouraged to take part in this fun event. All donations are appreciated.
