Mother charged with intimidation

The mother of one of the two male juveniles involved in the May 18 fire at the Blue Bird Cafe, reported in the May 31 issue of The News, is facing charges related to the incident. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said Shelly Moser, 37, of Mt. Pleasant was arrested and charged with intimidating a witness, a class C felony and tampering by attempting to persuade someone to provide false information, a class A misdemeanor. The two juveniles' charges are commercial burglary, a class C felony; theft of property, a class A misdemeanor; and arson, a class Y felony. In the days leading to the blaze, the cafe had been plagued by vandalism, and arson was initially suspected, according to authorities.
