Joy Burnell "Burt" Rogers, the son of John and Mabel Bass Corp, was born on May 3, 1941, in Springdale, Ark., and departed this life July 13, 2007, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 66 years.
He was united in marriage June 18, 1960, at Myrtle, Mo., to Wanda Combs, who preceded him in death April 20, 2007.
He was an asphalt worker, employed by McClinton Anchor in Springdale, Ark., for many years.
He was a Christian and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and especially deer hunting, claiming several trophy deer. He also enjoyed music and had written several songs.
He is survived by: three daughters, Tamara Sorrell and husband Randy of Galena, Mo., Terri Dodd and husband, Ric of Bella Vista, Ark., and Tonya Patrick of Elkins, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Darreck, Aaron, Evan, Tessa, Tabitha, Dusty, Brittany and Casey; seven great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Velma Combs of Thayer, Mo.; four brothers, Charles Corp, Gary Corp, Thomas Corp and Dale Corp, all of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife; his father-in-law, Fred Combs and two brothers, Bobby Corp and Roy Corp.
Funeral services were held July 16 at the Cotton Creek Free Will Baptist Church near Couch, Mo.
Burial followed in Cotton Creek Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
