Couch job shadowing a success

Thursday, March 1, 2007

MYRTLE -- The Couch School Board met in regular session Feb. 12 in the school library.

Couch A+ Coordinator Lacy Sorrell gave the board an update on the school's A+ program telling them the recent job shadowing program held at area businesses Jan. 31 had been a success. Sorrell also gave an A+ student status report and discussed the progress being made by seniors at the school involved in meeting the A+ requirements set by the state.

Couch School Superintendent Tom Bull presented all Couch School Board members with certificates of appreciation in observance of School Board Appreciation Week.

Bull discussed with the members the make-up days needed for the two missed days missed Feb. 1 and 2 because of snow. The board voted to add April 9 and another day (as of now undecided) as make-up days.

During executive session, the board voted to add Tonya Combs, Nathan Ogden, Amanda Nicholson and Tina Arnolds to the district's substitute teacher list.

The school board voted to offer Russell Deckard a contract as elementary principal and to offer Randall Eagleman a contract as high school principal for the upcoming school year.

The school board voted to accept the resignations of Reba Wood, Jason Qualls and Melinda Denton, effective at the end of this school year.

The next regular meeting of the Couch School Board will be March 12 in the school library.
