Ruth E. Crain, of Salem, daughter of the late Taylor Wood Stuart and Mary Elizabeth Franks Stuart, was born on Aug. 19, 1909, in Oxford, Ark. She died Feb. 28, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, at the age of 97. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Union.
Survivors include: her daughters,, Vondera Keylon and husband Leon of Mammoth Spring; Buna Rhea Estes of Salem, Faye Warden of Oxford; Georgia Lee Cochran and husband Charles of Salem, and Cecile Brewer and husband Paul of Thayer, Mo.; her grandchildren, Ronnie Keylon and wife Sherrie, Donna Sue Keyes and husband David, David Estes and wife Laura, Michael Warden and wife Caren, Debbie Everett and husband Connie, Steve Warden and wife Tannis, Charles Bruce Cochran and wife Elizabeth, Cathy Lee Manes, Barry James Cochran, Vicki McDaniel, Tamra Ward and husband Tim, Susan Pounders and husband Jeremy, and Paul A. (Tony) Brewer and wife Becky; her brother, Cecil Stuart and wife Mazelle of Salem; her sisters, Ollie Blevins and Thelma Bryant, both of Salem; 28 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Sterling Hartgrave, George Parks and Earl Cain; two brothers, Brooks and Olan Stuart; two sons-in-law, Bartus Estes and Dutch Warden; great-grandson, Kelly Keylon; great-granddaughter, Tamra Ward; four nephews one niece; and her father and mother.
The funeral services were held March 3 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Union. Burial followed in the Harmony Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
