Sgt. Daniel Jonas Cook, age 28, of Murrieta, Calif., formerly of Evening Shade, died Jan. 3, 2007, at Evening Shade.
He was born June 22, 1978, at Paris, Ill., the son of Robert D. and Andrea Dae (Holt) Cook. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, having served two tours in Iraq. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his wife, Dameon Cook; a stepdaughter, Ashley Tygart, a step-son, Daniel Tygart, all of Murrieta, Calif.; his father, Robert D. Cook of Evening Shade; a brother, Robert Andrew Cook of Cave City; a sister, Penny Lee Cook of Mt. Desert, Maine; maternal grandmother, Nina Mae Holt of Robinson, Ill.; one niece, Twila Cook of Williford; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother; his maternal grandfather, Andrew V. Holt; and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Madge Cook.
The funeral services with military honors were held Jan. 9 at the Evening Shade School gymnasium with Bro. Robert Hutchinson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were the U.S. Marine Corps honors team.
Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Muston, Josh Shands, John Shands, Robert A. Cook, Jason Carpenter and Bruce Laird.
