Boil order should be lifted soon

Thursday, March 1, 2007

A pump malfunction is the reason behind Fulton County's recent boil order, according to NAEC Member Service Coordinator Sherry Jackson.

Feb. 15 the pump that services all individuals of the Fulton County Water Association had to be replaced, Jackson said. Any time any type of repair is made, a boil order is issued for precautionary reasons, she said.

Once a repair is made, the state has to test the water and declare it safe before a boil order can be removed, Jackson said.

The necessary water samples were sent in the day the repair was made, but timing was off. "We sent the water in on time, but the following Monday was President's Day ... something happened -- the state said the water was too old to test, and another sample was needed," Jackson said.

She said a second sample has been sent, and the boil order will be removed as soon as the water association is given the OK. "Hopefully, by Wednesday (Feb. 28) we'll be able to remove the boil order," she said.
