Alice Lorean Frealy was born July 2, 1921, at Smithton, Ark., the daughter of Eugene Stanley Frealy and Maggie Fay Tyner Frealy, the fourth of 10 children. She died peacefully on Jan. 15, 2007 at the age of 85.
She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1942. She joined the U.S. Navy in August 1943, and was a "code breaker" during World War II receiving a unit citation medal for the work they did. She left the Navy in April 1946.
She worked for many years as a laboratory technician in St. Louis. She also worked for the American Legion as a liaison between military veterans and government agencies. She was baptized in the Catholic faith in 1945 and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Thayer.
She is survived by three brothers, Bob Frealy of Holton, Kan., David Frealy and wife Jackie of Thayer and Bill Frealy and wife Joreta of Thayer; numerous nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and many friends in St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jackie, Eugene Jr. and James Frealy; three sisters, Mary Lou Tourigney, Lona Fay Frealy and Elizabeth Scharff.
Services were held Jan. 19 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Thayer. Burial was in the Koshkonong Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
