Hollis Harding Defoe, 85, of Hardy died Dec. 16, 2006, in Mountain Home. He was born on Jan. 30, 1921, in Greenbrier, Ark., the son of John Noah and Elizabeth Defoe.
He was united in marriage to Myrtle Sims on Oct. 8, 1939, in Pemiscott, Mo. He worked many years as a carpenter and an auto body repairman. He attended the Christian Tabernacle near Hardy.
Survivors include five daughters and their husbands, Lois and Orville Vickery of Mountain Home, Brenda and Marty McComas of Wirth, Holly and Francis Jackson of Hardy, Sherry and Forest Farmer of Walnut Ridge, and Serena and Laban Miller of Mountain Home; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle; one daughter, Myra Eve Friel; two sons Larry Allen and Lloyd Defoe; three sisters, Pearl Satterwhite, Mary Gills and Alena Burns; and two brothers, James and Denny Defoe.
The funeral services were held Dec. 20 at the Christian Tabernacle with Rev. Harold Brown and Rev. Jason Jackson officiating. Burial followed in the Eagle's Rest Cemetery at the church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
Pallbearers were Curtis Jackson, Marty McComas Jr., Wayne Farmer, John Farmer, Clifford Farmer, Jefferey Friel and Joseph Friel.
