Clifton James Young, was born the son of James Young and Anna Best Young on Oct. 29, 1922, in Myrtle, Mo. He died Jan. 20, 2007, in Myrtle at the age of 84.
He was united in marriage Aug. 30, 1947, in Mammoth Spring, to Opal Macklay, who preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1986.
Young was well known as a livestock trader in the early 40s and 50s and then as a used car dealer in Myrtle for 51 years with his son, Curt. He enjoyed his farms and cattle, managed for 18 years by son-in-law, Ron. He was also known to be a "die-hard" Democrat.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during World War II. He was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Myrtle for more than 40 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Gayla Huddle and husband Ron of Thayer; one son, Curtis Young of Myrtle; two grandchildren, Tim Rhoades and wife Connie of Nixa, Mo., and Jason Rhoades and wife Sherry of Thayer; two stepgrandchildren, Eric Huddle of Thayer and Brandi Wilson and husband Terry of Ozark, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Allye Rhoades, Jordan Rhoades and Jake Rhoades; two step-great-grandchildren, Meghan Wilson and A.J. Wilson; a special friend and caregiver, Trudy Banks of Thayer; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Opal; and one brother, Phillip Young.
The funeral services were held on Jan. 22 at the First Baptist Church in Myrtle with burial following in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
