Search on for Horseshoe Bend man

Thursday, October 5, 2006

Horseshoe Bend and Mountain Home Police Departments continue to search for Norman Nilsen, 25, of Horseshoe Bend.

Nilsen is the suspect in the Sept. 23 assault of a female clerk at the Best Western Carriage Inn in Mountain Home.

According to authorities, Nilsen walked into the business's main office at approximately 4:45 a.m. requesting a room. The clerk, Lor Kha, 20, then escorted Nilsen to his room where he allegedly attacked her with a tire iron.

Kha was struck in the head several times with the tire iron before the attack was interrupted by a fellow employee who went to check on Kha after noticing she had been gone for several minutes.

On Sept. 27 felony arrest warrants were issued for Nilsen charging him with first degree battery and criminal attempt to commit rape.

"We've searched the area and spoken with his parents," said Horseshoe Bend Police Chief Fred Mitchell. "But he has a place here; I have no doubt that we'll locate him."

Nilsen is described as 5 feet 9 inches, weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Anyone who has information regarding Nilsen's whereabouts is asked to contact the Horseshoe Bend Police Department at 870-670-5113 or the Mountain Home Police Department at 870-425-6336.
