THOMASVILLE -- The Eleven Point River Baptist Association will host the third annual Horse Whisper and Trail Ride Oct. 14 at the Thomasville Community Center and Arena.
Registration for the ride will start at 9:30 a.m. with the actual ride at the Eleven Point Ranch running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The ride will start at the Thomasville Community Center. It will be an easy ride so everyone is welcome. Anyone planning to participate in the trail ride might pack a sack lunch," ride organizer Charles Alford said.
Alford said the Mahans will perform at the community building from 2-3 p.m., and the Horse Whisper is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
Alford said a horse whisper is where riders take a completely unbroken horse and work with it. "Sometimes the horses become tame enough for the riders to mount, sometimes not. It's interesting to watch," he said.
A chili supper sponsored by the Eleven Point Baptist Association will follow the horse whisper.
Alford said camping will be available at the arena grounds on Friday and Saturday nights free of charge. First Baptist Church of Thomasville will host a free movie at the community center Friday at 7 p.m.
Alford reminds all who plan to bring a horse to the activities that a current coggins test on the horse is required. He said no stallions, dogs or riding double will be allowed.
