Following the arrest Aug. 26 of Jerry Lee Kerr, 40, of Franklin, for allegedly making inappropriate sexual contact with children he has been formally charged with three counts of rape, each a class Y felony.
Kerr remains in the Izard County Detention Facility in lieu of a cash bond in the amount of $500,000. The investigation continues with interviews of other potential victims of Kerr. Information obtained by the Izard County Sheriff's Department indicate Kerr's deviant behavior with children began as early as 1984, said Sheriff Tate Lawrence. "Kerr's victims at this point in the investigation have been boys ranging in age 3 to about 6 or 7 years old. We still believe several additional charges will result from our continuing investigation," Lawrence said.
Michael Ray Auton, 18, of Quail Run Apartment in Melbourne was arrested Sept. 1 on the charge of battery third degree. Auton later posted bond in the amount of $1,000 and was released from the Izard County Detention Facility.
As a result of a one-vehicle accident involving damage to an ornamental fence at a residence in Melbourne, one juvenile male was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. Two other occupants of the vehicle were cited for failure to report an accident.
In a separate matter, a Melbourne male juvenile was cited on numerous charges including two counts of disorderly conduct, two counts of resisting arrest, fleeing on foot, fleeing in a vehicle, curfew violation and an alcohol related charge. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Batesville.
