Tawnya Kay Gatewood, 40, of Ada, Okla., died Aug. 28, 2006, at her home.
She was born Oct. 26, 1965, in Salem, Ark., the daughter of Donald Lee " Don" and Shirley Y. Welty Gatewood.
She graduated from Thayer High School in Thayer, Mo., in 1984. She lived in the Ada area for 21 years.
She was an assistant horse trainer and previously was employed at Solo Cup Company and was a horse trainer at the ranch of Dr. Jack Howard.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Thayer.
Survivors include her father and step-mother, Don and Lucy Gatewood of Ada, Okla.; her mother and stepfather, Shirley and Richard Harris; of Ada; one sister, Karen Sawler of Ada; one stepsister, Karla Chaffin and husband Gary of Ada; one stepbrother, Keith Flowers of Ada; her grandmother, Helen Mowery and husband Kenneth, of Piggott, Ark.; four uncles, Danny Welty and wife Leslie of Salisbury, Mo., Bill Gatewood and wife Cathy of Olathe, Kan., Dewayne Gatewood and wife Kathryn of Piedmont, Mo., and Danny Gatewood and wife Pat of Forrest, Mo.; an aunt, Lawanda Crawford and husband Art of Huntsville, Ala.; special nephews, Ricky Gatewood and Johnathan Sawler; a special niece, Rebecca Dougherty; and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Gatewood, and his wife Debra on July 13, 1997 and her grandparents.
Pallbearers included the men from the Southwest Church of Christ.
The funeral services for Tawnya Kay Gatewood were were held in Ada, Okla., on Sept. 2 at the Criswell Funeral Home with Floyd Kaiser officiating.
Burial followed in the Oakman Cemetery.
The funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Criswell Funeral Home of Ada, Okla.
