James Elvin Turman, 76, of Salem, Ark., formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died Jan. 17, 2008, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a retired painter. While in Memphis he was a member of Raleigh Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by: his wife of 47 years, Norma; two daughters, Elizabeth Alice Runnels and Merlyn Jo Turman; two sons, Johnny Turman and Mark Turman; eight grandchildren, Lynn, Christine, Kenny, Johnny, Brandy, Travis, Lori and Eric; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Carolyn Mates, Mary Gereau, Becky Turman, Mary Copeland and Patsy Blaylock three brothers, Dwight Turman, Jerry Bagwell and Tommy Bagwell; and his step-mother Doris Turman.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James W. Turman and Robbie Bagwell; and his son, Jimmy E. Turman Jr.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at Memphis Funeral Home, Germantown Parkway Chapel, with interment following in Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home, Germantown Parkway.
