Mearl R. Mitchener, 86, of Couch died July 4, 2006, at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born Feb. 9, 1920, in North Vernon, Ind., the son of the late L.W. Mitchener and the late Vara (Hollopeter) Mitchener.
He was employed as a electrician by Simpson True Value and was a member of New Salem Church in Couch. He was also a former member of Fairmont Volunteer Fire Department.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was married to Lois Tutorow June 12, 1948, in Fairmont, Ind., and she survives at Fenton, Mo.
Other survivors include his son, Larry (Terry) Mitchener of Fenton; one sister, Martha (Jack) Howell of Fairmont; one brother, James Mitchener of Fairmont; a grandson, Nick Mitchener of Fresno, Calif., and great-granddaughter, Alexis Ann Mitchener of Fresno.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger; and brothers, Earl and John Mitchener.
Arrangements were under the direction of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home at Fairmont.
Graveside services were held at Park Cemetery July 7 with Rev.Gary Mitchener officiating. Interment followed in Park Cemetery in Fairmont with military graveside rites.
