Rose Mary Hughes, daughter of the late Earl James and Bertha Bell Stephens Harber, was born on July 3, 1929, in Viola.
She died July 4, at her home in Viola at the age of 77.
She was united in marriage to Ken Cotter on Dec. 12, 1951, in Morriston, Ark., and later to Elmer Hughes on Nov. 1, 1981, at Moody, Mo. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a member of Viola Church of Christ and the Home Extension Club in Tazewell County, Ill., and Howell County, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Hughes of Viola; two daughters, Bonita Gail DeBerry (Charles) of Dickson, Tenn., and Carol McCallum (John) of Tremont, Ill.; two brothers, David Lee Harber of Belton, Mo., and Russell H. Harber of Battlefield, Mo.; four grandchidren, James Hurt, Nicholas Hurt, Ben DeBerry and Anna Rose DeBerry; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Cotter; her parents; an infant brother, James Harber; and a sister, Jacquita Newberry.
Funeral services were held July 7 at the Viola Church of Christ with Bro. David Newberry officiating. Burial was in the Free Union Cemetery at Moody, Mo., under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Pallbearers were James Hurt, Nick Hurt, Ben DeBerry, Jeremy Hughes, Rod Aukes and Larry Burns. Honorary pallbearers were C.W. Haynes, Eugene Rutherford and Joe Harber.
