Bobby Dale Brison, 65, of Lee's Summit, Mo., died peacefully on July 3, 2006, after a brief yet valiant battle against cancer at the Kansas University Medical Center.,
Brison was born March 16, 1941, in Viola.
Brison dedicated 30 years of service to public education in the state of Missouri. During his lengthy career in eductaion, he served as a teacher, buidling adminsitrator, instructional supervisor, business manager and superintendent of schools. He was involved in several statewide professional organizations and was elected state president of the Missouri Elementary Principals' Association, president of the SEMO Superintendents' Assocation, and several other positions.
Brison was also active in local community activities and was influential in establishing the Stoddard County Children's Home. He served on Industrial Development Committees, was on the board of directors for the Dexter Memeorial Hospital and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Since retiring from the Missouri Public Schools, he served as general manager of the Missouri Securities Investment Program where he assumed regional and national responsiblities for marketing financial services and investments to school and municipal entities in several states throughout the Midwest. He earned an Ed.S. degree in educational administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and a M.S.E and a B.S.E. from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Brison; his sister, Barbara; his brother, Jerry; his son, Vance; and two grandchidren.
Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Presentation Parish in Lee's Summit July 6. Graveside servies were held July 8 at the Gum Springs Cemetery in Salem, Ark., under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
