George Edwin Russell, age 76, of Horseshoe Bend, formally of Springfield, Ill., died July 26 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
He was on born April 10, 1930, the son of Samuel George and Grace Elizabeth Bickes Russell in Springfield, Ill.
When he was in Springfield he was a Free Mason and member of the Tyrian Lodge 333, Land of Lincoln Barber Shop Chorus, 35 year member of the Barber Shop Harmony Society, member of the Happynotes Barber Shop Quartet, former director of the Elliott Avenue Baptist Church Choir and a member of the January 1948 graduating class at Lamphier High School.
In Horseshoe Bend he was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Kiwanis Club, member at the Turkey Mountain Golf Course, was in the Horseshoe Bend Blender Chorus and was a member of the Horseshoe Bend Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Russell, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Linda Russell of Springfield, Ill.; one daughter and her fiance, Tracey Blackburn and Jeff Berry of Springfield, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Susan Thillen of Argyle, Texas, Sally Cisco of St. Charles, Mo. and Sharon Robards of Fisk, Mo.; one brother Allen Russell of Green Bay, Wis., one sister-in-law, Janet Fisher of Cherokee Village; five grandchildren, George Patrick Russell, Scott Russell, Christopher Russell, Lisa Blackburn and Keri Blackburn all of Springfield, Ill.; three stepgrandchildren, Stephen Adams of Collinsville, Ill., Evelyn Blackburn and Peggy Jo Budd both of Springfield, Ill.; two great grandchildren, Madison Nunn and Sydni Russell both of Springfield, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held July 29 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend.
Burial followed at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Ill., with arrangements under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beverly Russell; and one daughter, Rhonda Russell.
