Roy L. Glisson, 49, of Oxford was arrested Nov. 25 and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance after authorities from the Izard County Sheriffs Department found items in his residence associated with the hydroponic growth of marijuana.

Authorities said they found grow lights, chemical fertilizers, plastic pipes, hydrogen peroxide, power transformers, water purifying fillers and a humidifier at Glisson's residence. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence said these items are known to be essential for indoor hydroponic marijuana growth.

Glisson's arrest stems from the Sept. 5 arrest of Stanley Sand, also of Oxford, who owns the residence that Glisson occupied, Lawrence said.

Lawrence said his office learned of an incident involving Sand and the Vermont State Police in which the Vermont authorities found Hydroton expanded clay, growing lamps, fertilizer, tubing and seven growing marijuana plants in Sand's vehicle during an Aug. 30 traffic stop.

On Sept. 1 the Izard County Sheriff's Office and the 16th District Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at Sand's home. There they located Hydroton expanded clay, grow lamps, various chemical fertilizers, tubing and over 300 growing marijuana plants.

Lawrence said that after Sand's arrest his department suspected an employer/employee relationship between Sand and Glisson in the manufacturing and distribution of the illegal substance.

Lawrence said both arrests were the results of the combined efforts from his department and the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force.

Glisson was released from the Izard County Detention Facility and given a Dec. 11 court date after posting a $5,000 bond.
