Buna Ann Prewett of Oxford, daughter of the late Robert Lafayette and Catherine (Montgomery) Stroud, was born on May 21, 1927, at Wideman, Ark. She died Oct. 20, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 79.
She was united in marriage to Bernard Raydean Prewett on Aug. 9, 1943, at Wheeling, Ark., and to this union a son was born. She worked as an inspector at the Tri-County Shirt Factory and was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Carroll Ray Prewett of Oxford; a brother, Ralph Stroud of Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Eleanor Helm of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren, Darla York and husband, Ted of Salem, Cassandra Reed and husband Linn of Bryant, Ark., and Lori Yates and husband, Jimmy of Mountain Home; six great-grandchildren, Shelby, Carson and Layton York, and Madelyn, Addison and Cade Yates; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Roy Stroud; three sisters, Verna Reynolds, Winnie Paul and Faye Townsend, and a grandson, Gaylon Lynn Prewett.
The funeral services were held Oct. 22 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Dannie Burleston officiating. Interment was in the Union Cemetery at Union, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Bill Stroud, Bob Stroud, Charles Townsend, Ted York, Jack McCollum and Jack Yancey.
Memorials are preferred to the Union Cemetery Fund.
