Stephen Dickson Kester of Salem, son of Paul Dickson and Beverly Jean (Martin) Kester, was born Nov. 9, 1947, at Kewanee, Ill. He died Oct. 20, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 58.
Kester worked as a grocery store clerk. He attended school at Rock Island, East Moline and the University of Illinois. He was confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in East Moline, Ill.
He served his country in the United States Army.
Survivors include his parents, Paul and Jean Kester of Oneida, Ill.; a brother, Charles G. Kester of Lake Forest Park, Wash.; two sisters, Paula Kester of Kenmore, Wash., and Karin Logston and husband Rod of Woodridge, Ill.; six nephews; one niece; one great-nephew; one great-niece; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal grandparents.
The body was cremated with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem. The inurnment will take place at a later date in the Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Ill.
