Erin Mallet, the 17-year-old daughter of Mark and Jean Mallet of Mountain View, was named the 2006 Miss North Central Arkansas District Fair Queen Saturday in Melbourne at the pageant held in the John E. Miller Auditorium on the campus of Ozarka College. College. Mallet is a freshman at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and is pursuing a degree in marketing and public relations. She was also winner of the interview competition and will represent the Miss North Central Arkansas District Fair at the Arkansas State Fair Pageant.
First runner-up in the pageant was Ashley Anderson, the 20-year-old daughter of Bill and Gayle Anderson of Cave City. Anderson recently started a career with Alltel Wireless in Batesville. Ashley was also the swimsuit winner.
Second runner-up was Tori Watkins, the 18-year-old daughter of Jim and Patricia Watkins of Salem. Watkins is a freshman at Arkansas State University at Mountain Home and is pursuing a degree in business and engineering. She was also named Miss Photogenic and voted Miss Congeniality by the other contestants.
The Miss North Central Arkansas District Fair Queen Pageant is for girls age 16-21 from Cleburne, Fulton, Izard, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren counties. It was sponsored by the Bank of Salem (Fulton County) and First National Banking Company of Melbourne (Izard County) and conducted by Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
