Cora F. Hamm, 81, of Grove City, Ill., died March 19, 2006, at her residence. She was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Mechanics-burg, Ill., the daughter of the late David and Nancy Jane Montgomery Harter.
On Feb. 1, 1944, she married Emmett M. Hamm in Petersburg.
Survivors include her husband, Emmett Hamm of Grove City; six sons, Roy (wife Patsy) Hamm of Grove City; Freddie "Puddle" (wife Mary) Hamm of Illiopolis, Ill., Billy Jo (wife Deborah) Hamm of Springfield, Ill.; Danny R. (wife Donna) Hamm of Pekin, Ill., Joe (wife Julie) of Grove City, and Bobby J. Hamm of Grove City; five daughters, Martha (husband Norman) Swinger of Grove City; Dorthy (husband Fred) Permenter of Camp, Ark., Mary (husband Sonny) Riech of Springfield, Ill.; Patty (husband John) Mahan of Springfield, Ill., and April Penny Lamb and companion Brandon of Alton, Mo.' one brother, George "Butch" Harter of Taylorville, Ill.; three sisters, Lydia Nave of Edinburg, Ill., Eliza Copple of Illiopolis, and Ella White of Edinburg; 32 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas "Bean" Hamm; three children in infancy; four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held March 24, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville, Ill, with Rev. Howard Wise officiating. Burial followed in the Grove City Cemetery.
An account has been set up at the Bank of Salem in Salem, Ark., to help defray funeral costs for Cora Hamm, who is the mother of Dorthy Permenter. The family had no burial insurance.
