Rose Thompson, 81, of Hardy, Ark., died May 2, 2008, at the Presbyterian Village in Little Rock, Ark. She was born May 26, 1926, in Kerrville, Tenn., the daughter of Joseph and Cinderella Bradley Irwin.
She was first married to Troy Berry, he preceded her in death in 1973. She later married Frank Thompson in 1984 and he preceded her in death in 1994. She was a retired teacher from the Hardy School system but continued the family gas business until she sold that in 1990. She was an active member of the Hardy First United Methodist Church, the Timely Club, Sharp County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include: one daughter, Janet Berry and her husband, Norman Floyd; three step-daughters, May Noonan, Janis Hamlin and Nan Ernst, all of Virginia; one step-son, Tom Thompson of Batesville; four brothers, Joseph Irwin of New York, James Irwin of Greenvalley, Ill., William Irwin of Virginia and Raymond Irwin of Tennessee; two sisters, Jean Tate of Texas and Laura Stone of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on May 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Hardy with Rev. Tom Rhodes officiating. Burial followed at the Bronaugh Cemetery near Hardy.
The arrangements were under the direction of the Higginbotham Funeral Service of Hardy.
