Anna Geneva Ford Burge, 98, of Cave City, Ark., died Dec. 18, 2003, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born Sept. 30, 1905, at Cave City, she was the daughter of John Edward and Margaret Parllee Matlock Ford. She was a teacher in a one-room school during her early adult life, later she was a cook at Cave City schools. She was a Christian and a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City for 83 years. She served the church during her early years as a Sunday School teacher and as a Bible teacher.
Survivors include two sons -- Justin Ford Burge of Batesville and Dr. Paul D. Burge of Mission, Texas; a daughter, Anna Lee Burge Carreiro of Cave City; a sister, Tommie Smith of Cave City; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Ernest Burge; a son, Thomas Neal Burge; a granddaughter, Frieda Jo Ann Burge; two brothers; two half-brothers; and five half-sisters.
The funeral was Dec. 20 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Robbie Horne officiating. Burial followed in Palestine Cemetery west of Cave City, with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Missionary Fund at First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City and/or White River Health Systems Founda-tion.
