Girl Scouts will begin taking orders Jan. 10 for Girl Scout cookies.
The Girl Scouts will take the orders and deliver the cookies the week of Feb. 23.
The cost of the cookies is $4 a box. Flavors include thin mints, caramel delites, peanut butter patty, peanut butter sandwich, shortbread and animal treasures. Reduced fat cookies include lemon pastry cremes and the newest Girl Scout cookie -- pinatas, a luscious treat bursting with strawberry jam, topped with cinnamon crumbs and a delicate white sugar icing. The cookie is for the lactose intolerant.
Less than one third of the $4 per box of cookies goes to pay for the cookies. The rest of the purchase price stays in the council.
The sale of Girl Scout cookies is different from most youth product sales because a portion of the revenue goes to the local troop so the girls can decide how it is spent.
