Rennie Helen Burns, 82, of Viola, daughter of Owen Thomas McCandlis and Mary Caroline Burgess, was born April 8, 1921, in Viola. She died Jan. 15, 2004, at Auburn Hills Nursing Center in Mountain Home.
She married Condrell Aaron Burns July 4, 1939, at Viola. To this union seven children were born.
She was employed by Fulton County Nursing Center as a cook for many years. She was a member of Flora Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children -- Jo Ann Cimino of Alpena, Ray Gene Burns of Milano, Texas, Sharran Quick of Gepp, Charlene Van Stone of Fayetteville, N.C., Arlene Price of Indianapolis, Ind., Erlene Wideman of Gepp, and Carolyn Walker of Gepp; a brother, Paul McCandlis, of Snohomish, Wash.; a sister, Ruth Peterson of Viola; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, four brothers, two grandsons and her parents.
The funeral service was Jan. 18 at Cox-Blevins Chapel. Burial was at Mt. Calm Cemetery near Viola. Arrangements were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
