J.L. Goings, 76, of Williford, Ark., was born in Sharp County, and died April 28, 2005, at Cave City Nursing Home. He was a road grader operator, retiring after 30 years of service with Sharp County Road Depart-ment. He was a member of Bettis Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Roe Goings of Williford; a son, Jeffery Goings of Williford; a daughter, Phillis Bell of Sitka, Ark.; four brothers -- Carson Goings of Hardy, Cecil Goings of Hot Springs, Ark., Don Goings of Oklahoma City, Okla., J.E. Goings of Evening Shade, Ark.; two sisters -- Lorene Morgan of Williford and Bonnie Sue Goings of Mount Ida, Ark.; a grandson, Mark Davis of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; four granddaughters -- Kari Prince, Jami Prince, Monica Smutz, Nyleen Bailey; and three great-grandchildren -- Payton Davis, Nashton Davis, Justin Prince.
He was preceded in death by his parents -- Flossie Jane Goings and James Lester Goings; a sister, Ima Jean Goings; and a granddaughter, Amanda Goings.
The funeral was May 1 at Bettis Church of Christ near Poughkeepsie, Ark., with Bro. Tom Martin officiating. Burial was in Buchanan Cemetery near Poughkeepsie with arrangements under the direction of Heath Funeral Home of Hardy.
