Ivan "Scotty" Wiest, 74, of Highland, died April 28, 2005, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Wiest was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Wakpala, S.D., the son of Fred and Emelia Schneider Wiest. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Isbelle Cieczka on May 12, 1956, in South Milwaukee, Wis.
Wiest retired from the Milwukee Forge Shop in 1988 and moved with his family to Cherokee Village. He was a member of the garden club and also of the Exercise for a Better Life Club. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Isbelle Wiest of the home; a daughter, Dana Wiest of the home; one daughter/granddaughter, Therese Pollard of the home; one brother and his wife, Melvin and Dorothy Wiest of McLaughlin, S.D.; three sisters -- Cecilia White of Richland, Wash., Lorraine Frank of Bradington, Fla., and Loretta Martin of Dewey, Ariz.; two brothers-in-in-law -- Peter and Nelly Cieczka of Racine, Wis., and Richard Cieczka of Wutoma, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Greg Wiest; and a daughter, Gail Wiest Pollard.
A funeral mass was May 4 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Kevin Atunzu officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek, Wis., May 7 at 10 a.m. Arrangements were by Tri-Country's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
