Loyd E. Cossey, 70, of Cave City, died April 14, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born June 26, 1934, at Charlotte, Ark., he was the son of Ernest Earl and Lucille Walton Cossey.
He was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy, having served 21 years; a member of the Navy Fleet Reserve and was a retired instructor from Ozarka College in Melbourne and Gateway Technical College in Batesville.
He enjoyed music, writing songs and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Cave City Church of Christ where he served as a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey Hurst Cossey of the home; a son, Paul E. Cossey of Jonesboro; a daughter, Sylvia Niemeyer of Cave City; two brothers -- Clyde Cossey and Doyle Cossey, both of Cave City; a sister, Helen Tracy of Cave City; three grandchildren -- Jacob Niemeyer, Ian Niemeyer and Rachael Niemeyer, all of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Verl Cossey.
The funeral was April 18 at Cave City Church of Christ with Dean Fugett officiating. Burial followed in Charlotte Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
