Gary Chester, 57, of Thayer, Mo., was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Myrtle, Mo., and died March 27, 2005, at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Thayer, Mo.
He graduated from Couch High School in 1966. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Myrtle.
Survivors include his mother, Eureta Chester-Minge and her husband, Joe, of West Plains, Mo.; a brother, Rick Chester and his wife, Lana, of Myrtle, Mo.; two nieces -- Kristi Chester of Lead Hill, Ark., and Hollie Chester of West Plains; a nephew, Brian Chester and his wife, Jessica, of West Plains; two great-nephews -- Quaid Turner and Dusty Chester, both of West Plains; and a great-niece, Gracie Chester of West Plains. He is also survived by two aunts -- Norma Hufstedler and her husband, Robert, of Alton, Mo., and Mary Bauer and her husband, George, of Medford, Oregon; an uncle, Robert Chester of Fort Smith, Ark.; and several cousins.
Preceding him in death was his father, Russell Chester; two uncles -- Leonard and Leo Chester; and two aunts -- Lois Imholtz and Maxine Brotherton.
The funeral service was March 30 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with John McFarlen officiating.
Interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas, Ark.
Pallbearers were Jerry and Max Hackworth, James Ray Chester, Junior Brewer, Kenny King and David Honeycutt.
