OREGON COUNTY -- The Oregon County Farm Service Agency is seeking nominations for the county committee and will do so through Sept. 3.
Farm Service Agency officials said the next step in the election process will be mailing out ballots. This will begin Nov. 8. Voters will have until Dec. 6 to return their ballots to the county office.
To be an eligible voter in the local Farm Service Agency election, one must be an owner, operator, tenant or sharecropper or be a partner in a general partnership or member of a joint venture that has an interest in a farm as owner, operator, tenant or sharecropper.
A voter does not have to be of legal voting age if he supervises and conducts the farming operation of the entire farm. One is eligible to participate in any Farm Service Agency that is provided for by law, regardless of the status of funding.
