The Sharp County Literacy Council provided an English as a second language and basic tutor training session in July at Ozarka College. Two trainers came from Dardanelle and provided two days of training for 14 tutors. Because of this training tutors will now be able to tutor people who are not English speakers.
The next meeting is Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. at the literacy office, across from the Timberline Restaurant. Special information will be available at that meeting for tutors and an introduction to the FISH management/tutoring style will be presented.
All tutors and council members are invited to attend and also anyone who would like to volunteer or learn more about literacy. Call with questions to 856-3038.
