William "Bill" Sorenson, 73, of Thayer, Mo., died Sept. 1, 2004, at Cox South, in Springfield, Mo. William Louis Horner was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Beatrice, Neb. He was the son of Ray and Gladys McNabb Simmons Horner. He was adopted on Oct. 29, 1932, by Frank F. and Florence Stewart Sorenson of Filley, Neb.
He attended Obney Country School near Filley, graduated Filley High School, went to Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb., and was member of Filley Mehodist Church.
He was married to Betty Sullivan Dec. 24, 1950, in Earl Moore's home by the Rev. Newon Moats in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was a member of Sharp Family of America, NEAPP North East Arkansas Pipe Club, South East Nebraska, Genealo-gical Society. He farmed in the Filly area and worked at Kleveland Service Station. After he retired he moved Thayer, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Thayer, Mo.; a son Mike and his wife, Barbara, Sorenson of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters -- Debbie, and her husband, Roger F., Randolph of Ticaboo, Utah and Kate and her husband, John Ackerly of Thayer, Mo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded n death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Horner and Mr. and Mrs. Frank F. Sorenson; two sisters -- June Kline and Elaine Stoyer; eight half-brothers -- Morris, Vail, and Don Horner, Russell, Lester, Frank, John, and Robert Simmons; five half-sisters -- Leah Esther - Mrs. Rex Lebetter, Regina Alice "Allie" - Mrs. Emil Zaborktsky, Marianna Frances - Mrs. James Wheeler, Constance Belle - Mrs. John Johnson, baby girl buried in the arms of her mother, Atha Belle (Morris) Horner; and a step-broher, Dale Sorenson.
The Funeral will be Sept. 26 at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, adjacent to Mammoth Spring City Park at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Lanesboro Cemetery in Lanesboro, Iowa with arrangements under the direction of Lampe Funeral Home of Lake City, Iowa.
